A lot of women experience miscarriages before the actually get down to having a baby. In most cases it is not their fault. The reasons that cause it that do the rounds are a million but how many are really true?

Most couples who have lost a baby through miscarriage have come across at least one myth, myth, rumour, or half-truth.

Here are some myths about miscarriages that need to be put to rest:

Miscarriage-Causes-Myths-and-Facts

  • Myth 1: Miscarriages are caused by some act of the mother

Research has shown that more than 70% cause of miscarriages are due to severe problems with an unborn baby’s DNA, like an extra or missing chromosome and of course genetics.

So if you think that a miscarriage is caused by lifting something heavy or stress of anything that you have done, the chances are less than one percent that you might have caused it.

It is extremely hard to cause your own miscarriage unless you suffer from real risk factors that include old age and certain health conditions like infections, uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney disease, other autoimmune disorders and even direct serious physical injury.

  • Myth 2: A miscarriage means you cannot get pregnant again

More than 90% of women who suffer from miscarriages go on to have healthy pregnancies and babies. As long as you give your body time to recover from the miscarriage you can be sure to get pregnant again unless you suffer from a rare condition of uterus scarring or other very rare conditions.

  • Myth 3: You get over it

A woman who undergoes a miscarriage never really overcomes it. It is a life altering incident in her life. A loss of life in her body will always be remembered. She will grieve the loss and will never ever let the fact slip her mind.

Most women face guilt towards their partners, disappointment and even shock. It might take years for some women to get over the incident.

  • Myth 4: Miscarriages are rare

It is not that the society doesn’t have many women who have had miscarriages, it is the fact that no one likes to talk about them.

As a matter of fact most miscarriages happen when won’t even know that they are pregnant.

So bust those weird myths out there about miscarriages and prove them wrong.
