4 Allergy Myths Busted

With the allergies bring the snuffles and the sneezes, or even an itchy nose. Some are prone to allergies from birth, while others are influenced by the external factors of the environment.

There is some information about allergies that we have heard and believe to be true over the years, but the fact is that they are not true.

Here is the most common 4 allergy myths busted:

1. Allergy meds will make your allergy disappear instantly:

Allergy meds will make your allergy disappear instantly

The moment you sneeze or realize that your allergy has been triggered you just pop a pill and expect the allergy to disappear.

But if you really want these medications to be effective you need to start early.

These medications are antihistamines that control the release of the chemical histamine in your body that triggers the allergic reactions like running nose, watery eyes, sniffles etc…

2. You will outgrow allergies when you grow into adults:

You will outgrow allergies when you grow into adults

Some allergies are outgrown when kids grow but for some kids the allergy persists even when they reach the stage of adulthood.

The most difficult allergies to outgrow are that of peanut and tree nut as only around 20% of kids outgrow them.

3. Get a hypo allergic pet if you are allergic to the regular ones:

Get a hypo allergic pet if you are allergic to the regular ones

Sorry for all those pet lovers but there is no such thing as a hypo allergic pet. But then again there are some pets sold in the market being labeled as hypo allergic because of the fact that they come with small hairs and shed less hair.

Then again people forget the fact that a pet is allergic not only because they shed hair, a person is allergic to a substance that may be found in the saliva, hair, oil or even other aspects of the pet, so simply getting a pet which sheds less hair is not a solution.

4.

Going ‘gluten free’ is the solution for those with allergies
:

Let’s clear the fact that there is no such thing as a gluten allergy. Basically all the proteins in your body that fight bugs called Immunoglobulin (IgE) binds to whatever is causing the allergy and cause the allergic reaction that we see that include itching, hives, flushing, rashes, swelling of lips or mouth, coughing, throwing up etc… Gluten thus will not kill a person; it will only let you experience some negative reactions of an allergy.

So don’t believe everything you hear about allergies. There is nothing to be scared about provided you stay away from whatever is not suiting your body.
