3 Tips to Flying Cheap

By Smartgirltravel @SmartGirlTravel

Fly when you can’t afford to ;)

Fly today. Worry tomorrow. That’s my motto. Which would explain why I have never managed to save a single penny in my life. But what can I say – my three passions in life (fashion, travel and eating ridiculous amounts of cake) don’t exactly come cheap.

Rumour has it that cheapo flights could soon become a thing of the past, and whilst I don’t know what will happen with the travel market, I do know that my bank account is not about to get fatter anytime soon. In fact, it’s positively anorexic right now.

But flying doesn’t have to hit you quite as hard if you know how to scrimp and save. Here are some quick tips on making sure you make the most of your cash – because let’s face it – you’ll want to treat yourself to a few glasses on vino when you arrive!

;)

1. Do a Little Research

According to FareCompare.com, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are the cheapest days to fly. Depending where you are flying from, their research may vary. Watch their video for a little inspiration on discovering your own local flying patterns.

2. Use SkyScanner.Net

I love Skyscanner. I live by Skyscanner. It doesn’t matter if you want to sell me a long haul flight for 50p because I will still check the price against Skyscanner. This fab website scans the entire web to make sure you are not missing out on any deals. But more importantly, it’s a great way of selecting a random cheap flight to a random place you didn’t intend on going to. Isn’t that the best way to travel? Be spontaneous and open about where you want to travel and you’ll get amazing deals from this site.

3. Pre-book Airport Parking

We live in a weird, backward world where petrol costs and airport parking can sometimes be more expensive than your flights. It’s ridiculous, I know. But it happens. Planning isn’t exactly my strong point but I soon kick myself into shape when my bank balance reminds me that I can’t afford to be disorganised.

The BCP Parking website lets you check over 100 airports across the UK, and pre-booking with these guys will save you lots of dosh – so you can spend more on holiday! Not only can you save around 40% in airport parking costs, but all their car parks have CCTV and 24 hour security patrols, so you know your car’s in safe hands (not that my old banger is worth stealing).

Simple online search:

cheap-airport-parking-luton-stansted

They cover all major airports such as Luton airport parking and Stansted airport parking, and they offer price match to beat all other cheap airport parking sites.

Hope you all manage to save some pennies with these tips!
