I didn't think I could do it. It looked scary. Different. Everytime I thought about it, I had visions of Prince dance through my head. Pirates of the Caribbean also crossed my mine. I imagined eating soup with the Queen and unavoidably dipping the edge of my clothing into the soup with each spoonful. How embarrassing! What was I so afraid of? It's just a sleeve! I finally decided that my fears were unfounded and I set out to buy a shirt with bell sleeves. The bell sleeve top is after all one of the the trendiest of all trends this fall. Now I'm loving this look and you can too with these 3 tips for wearing a bell sleeve top this fall.
If you want to wear a bell sleeve this fall but have all those silly fears like I did. Let me give you a tip. Start off with a 3/4 length sleeve. 3/4 length sleeves are universally flattering in my opinion. Have you ever said look how this 3/4 length sleeve makes my lower arm look fat? Nope never. Because it stops at one of the slimmest points of your body and makes your arms look long and lovely. And the shorter length won't get in your way while you're living your life. I found this navy blue top at Banana Republic and I am loving it!
Second, find one that is like your favorite t shirt, only elevated. There are so many options out there from everyday to dressy when it comes to the bell sleeve trend. But I'm all about comfort and clothing that can be dressed up or down. A t-shirt style can be worn to work or running errands. Or date night too! In any case, you'll look so darn cute!
Third, because the bell sleeve is such a feminine detail I like it paired with a tougher, more masculine style of pants or jeans. Distressed jeans and booties pair great for everyday. My Kut from the Kloth Boyfriend Jeans are my favorite jeans right now and would you believe I bought them on Amazon? I picked up these BP. Faren Booties at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I can't wait to start wearing them everyday this fall. Probably the most comfortable bootie I have ever worn. I'm having a major crush on blush everything these days too, including this bag which is sadly out of stock but I found a similar style HERE.
Hopefully, these tips will get you into this cute fall trend asap. If you're feeling really brave you can even try a few long sleeves versions. Just remember to keep your sleeve out of your soup if you have lunch with the Queen!
