Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center is located roughly one hour east of Orlando. This is a major tourist destination, rightfully so. More precisely, the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex (KSCVC) is the must-visit attraction here. The tour of the KSC includes a detailed history of the space program and also covers a futuristic outlook from such breakthroughs like the International Space Station and the Hubble Telescope. When you purchase a ticket for the KSCVC you are granted access to most of the sites attractions. These include the I MAX theater, Astronaut Hall of Fame, and a bus tour of the Apollo/Saturn V Center. To get the entire experience, you may have to pay a little extra, but it’s definitely worth the cost. The Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) gives you the complete feeling that Astronauts endure while on a space mission. The simulators are world-class and put your body through intense G-Forces when the shuttle takes off! The Kennedy Space Center should top your list of destinations to see when visiting Central Florida.

Victory Casino Cruise

Port Canaveral is filled with all types of cruise, naval, police and coast guard ships, that one sometimes forgets about the casino cruise that calls Canaveral home. The Victory Casino Cruise is fun for the 18+ crowd. Unlike other Casino’s in Florida, drinks are free when gaming and they also have all your favorite table games available. These include roulette, craps, blackjack, three-card poker and many more! The ship has several levels of entertainment and always has a gourmet style buffet available an hour or so before setting sail. The atmosphere is lively on the top deck whether you’re inside or out. Inside features a live DJ with a dance floor and more of a club-like setting. Meanwhile, outside leaves you the opportunity to soak in the Central Florida sunset and ocean scenery while listening to a live band perform all the classic beach music hits. All in all, the Victory Casino Cruise is a great idea to spend with friends and family. Plus, you never know when you might hit it big on a progressive slot or something!

Beaches

Port Canaveral is usually a considered a transition city mainly because of the amount of tourists that flock here because of the major cruise lines. However, there are a few hidden gems when making that pit stop at Port Canaveral. Jetty Park is a prime example. The entire family is welcome and can stay occupied all day. This beach-side park allows for overnight camping as well. Fishing off the pier is encouraged and a favorite hobby for many locals. The ocean water is usually at a comfortable temperature which allows your kids the ability to play in the sand and wash off in the ocean. They also have a concession stand with hot food available and if you check your calendars, you may be able to catch a rocket launch with great natural seats from the nearby Kennedy Space Center. Overall, if you are staying in Port Canaveral a few days before a cruise or just here on a small stay-cation, checking out Jetty Park will produce a fun and memorable time for you and your family!
