24: UNDERGROUND #2 Review

Previously on 24…

Four years ago, CTU agent Jack Bauer became a fugitive from justice. Soon, he will risk his
life and freedom to avert yet another global disaster and LIVE ANOTHER DAY.
Jack spent the intervening years in exile, and now finds himself in Ukraine, where he has
run afoul of Russian mobsters while trying to protect his girlfriend’s family…

Jack is now recognized as who he really is. Now is where that classic Bauer action kicks in.  Smooth, quick actions and some shots fired. Jack and Petro are on the run. Petro is a bit confused by what is going on but Jack is telling him what he needs to know. Just as it would play out on the TV show or in a movie, it’s now time to go back and get the family before the opposition gets there first.  Another confrontation happens at Petro’s place but Sofiya might not be as lucky.

As a fan of the TV series (which is airing its “final” season now), this book/series is going great for me. The story is playing out like I imagined. I like how they are tying it in to how the last season ended and he is now a fugitive. The artwork is nothing special but is working. It is a dark looking book.  The one thing I am not 100% sure on is if each book is equal to 1 hour like the show is.  There isn’t a clock or an intro of when the events are happening. Therefore I don’t know of the series will end on issue 24 or not.

If you like the TV show you will like this series. IDW has picked up rights to many TV series that I have seem but this is the first that I have read. If you are a collector, there are a couple different covers in which one includes an actual picture of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer.
