2019 Winnipeg Open Data Hackathon

In celebration of International Open Data Day, DecisionWorks Consulting, Launch Coworking, and the City of Winnipeg Open Data Initiative are working together to host the 2019 Winnipeg Open Data Hackathon on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

This fun, educational and challenging event is free and open to all data-minded people, including aspiring or practicing Data Scientists, data analysts, data hobbyists, students and citizen journalists.

The focus will be on the creative use of open data to support "Smart City Transportation". The theme of Smart City Transportation allows for development of many kinds of creative Smart City applications. Each prototype or demo must make use of at least one dataset from the City of Winnipeg Open Data Portal.

After the presentations, participants will jointly brainstorm Smart City Transportation use-cases, discuss and shortlist selected use-cases for creating prototype solutions or proof-of-concept demonstrations.

The participants then form into separate teams to collaboratively build prototype solutions over the course of the afternoon. After dinner, the teams will be invited to show off their solutions to all in attendance before the event wrap-up and post-event networking.
