Join the Geospatial Community as they come together to celebrate new-comers to the geomatics sector at the third annual Back to School Canada wide Social Event
GoGeomatics is inviting new and returning students to kick off the school year with other geomatics professionals at this free networking event. This is GoGeomatics way of welcoming the newest members of the Canadian geospatial community to the geomatics sector.
Everyone is welcome, from all areas of geomatics – from GIS, to remote sensing, to surveying, to cartography … Events will be taking place in Halifax, Ottawa, Kingston, Niagara, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Nelson, Kelowna, and Vancouver – so find one near year and get out and meet someone else in the geomatics sector. GoGeomatics Canada is focusing on women in the Canadian geomatics community during the month of March. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8th GoGeomatics Magazine will feature interviews and articles by women about women in our field. Some contributors from last year will be coming back to share their thoughts on current issues relating to employment and leadership in geomatics, as well many new voices will be heard.
By sharing various stories and points of views from women in the Canadian geomatics community GoGeomatics aims to show that they are present and well accounted for in all areas of our society especially in the technical fields. As well by talking to women who are leaders in geomatics we let the world know that women in Canada are taking on challenges and issues of great importance.
Our Canadian Geomatics Conference and Events section was designed to help provide people with a central place to obtain information about the various GIS & Geomatics related conferences, events, workshops, training and webinars that are held in Canada.

The Association of Canadian Map Libraries and Archives (ACMLA) and the Canadian Cartographic Association (CCA) have joined forces this year for a joint conference in Edmonton hosted by the University of Alberta from 11 to 14 June 2013. Past joint conferences held by the ACMLA &; CCA have been premier events that focused on cartographic and geospatial research and CARTO 2013 promises to uphold the same prestige as past conferences.
Planning for CARTO 2013 titled North by West ‘Preserving the Present as we Journey to the Future’ has begun and an official call for papers, presentations and workshops based on a wide range of cartographic topics was released last week.
