So I marked myself against last years goals and I think I passed. As a reward I thought I'd take a little nostalgic look over last year and revel in some of my favorite bits...
I started another blog with my best friend Kimberley. We both love reading fashion blogs and dressing up so we decided to work together to create Wardrobe Conversations. It gives us a great excuse to get together and encourages us to be creative in new ways. While it has been challenging at times, keeping up two blogs, it has also been a lot of fun and has given me more confidence to experiment with the way I dress.
I had the privilege of being Kimberley's kickass Maid of Honour. This was also a challenge at times, as I created the invites and most of the stationary for the day, but it was so worth it to be part of her big day. I had an excellent time on the day, being pampered at Miss Dixibelles in the morning was a definite highlight, and it was so good to see my best friend so happy.
I treated myself (and was treated) to some awesome jewelry throughout 2013 after starting my Ultimate Jewellery Wishlist. The aim of this was to be an evolving, affordable, to buy list that would stop me wasting money on cheap high street jewels and go for quality handmade pieces instead. While I haven't stayed away from the cheap stuff entirely I have added some beautiful keep forever pieces to my collection.
I also made some awesome jewelry for myself. Well, I think it's awesome anyway. During the Vanilla Ink class I attended I made myself a simple silver ring that is an easy to wear piece I love to stick on day to day. I also created a more flamboyant 2 headed monster ring that I really love and is something I put on when a statement piece is needed. As well as these personal pieces, I did make a colourful new collection of jewelry for Jolly Good that I was also pretty pleased with.
And the blog highlight of the year (ie my most read post) goes to my write up of the Jewellery and Metalwork Degree Show at DJCAD. I have to say I'm pleased this post did so well as the show was filled with so much talent and inspiring design.
So, all in all, 2013 was a good year and all this reminiscing has put me in a pretty good mood for 2014. Let's make it bigger, better and more handmade than ever!
What were your 2013 highlights?
