Even though the number of child labourers has globally declined with 78 million, there are still 168m children between 5-17 years old involved in hazardous work that endangers their health, safety and moral development.
The target of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to eliminate the worst forms of child labor in 2016 will not be reached at this rate of decline. More effort will have to be made. ILO explains that "policy choices" and accompanying investments in education and social protection have played a key role in the improvement of lifes of the children in less developped parts of the world. So we know what to do, and there are still 168.000.000 reasons why we can't give up now!
