You won’t get to feature in as many pout selfie shots that people seem to be posting on social media, if you can’t get the perfect pout.
If you are not blessed with a natural pout, here are a few tricks that will help you achieve the pout look:
1) Prep your lips
The main thing is to get your lips ready to put on lipstick. Slather on lip balm for a few minutes. Wipe off and then use a gentle scrub to get off the dead skin. Olive oil and sugar is one combination that is natural and works the best.
2) Right lip colors
No matter how expensive your lipstick is, it’s the colors, composition and how you apply it that eventually matters. Find out which shades and texture suit your skin. You can choose from extra moisture, matte and more…
3) Use concealer on the edges of your lips
Line and blend the outer edges of your lips with a concealer so that it makes your lips pop and prevents the lipstick from bleeding.
4) Always use a brush
Try not to apply lipstick directly. Application with a brush increases coverage, fills the creases and crannies, lasts longer and gives your lips a better shape.
5) Work your way outwards
Start with applying lipstick in the center and then move on outwards, so that you apply just the right amount of lip color. Form an ‘O’ with your mouth so that the edges get applied right and evenly.
6) Peppermint oil
If you want instant plumper lips, mix a little peppermint oil in your gloss. It will instantly plump your lips.
7) Exaggerate liner
If you are applying lip liner and want to exaggerate your lips then smile to see where exactly you need to draw a little extra lip.
8) Blot and powder
This is a hack used by most makeup experts. Blot your lips with tissue paper.
Place a wafer thin single sheet of tissue over your lips and brush powder all over it. Let it set and then apply a second coat of lipstick and repeat the process. It helps in setting bright and bold colors like red and fuschia.
9) Gloss
Remember that gloss always gives the impression of being fuller. Apply lots of shimmer gloss onto the center of your top lip to make you lips look fuller and sexy.
10) Contouring
Use different shades of lip color for the inner and outer parts of the lips.
The trick to doing this is by first applying the darker shade over the entire lips. After that section the middle area of both the top and lower lip and apply the lighter shade in that area.
11) Highlight Cupids Bow
The cupid bow area is the curve in the middle of your top lip. Highlighting that area just makes your lips pop out, look plumper and pronounced.
