This morning, an article on Women's Wear Daily (full article here) reads: '..., the kings of khaki tapped Jan-Henrik M. Scheper-Stuke, the poster boy and chief executive of more than 100 year old Berlin tie maker Edsor, to outline his 10 Rules of Style at Docker’s pop-up store in the boutique-filled Hackesche Markt area.' Luckly, right after work I stopped by the boutique close to Alexanderplatz, for some mingling and champagne sipping while browsing through the store and checking out the 10 photos shot by photographer Rita Lino. Of course, the 10 poses portray the 10 Rules of style as follows (in German/English):1. Der Herr trägt die Uhr am Handgelenk, nicht die Uhr das Handgelenk! 1."The gentleman wears the watch on his wrist, rather than the wrist wearing the watch."
2. Unterwäsche des Herren: Bitte stets Würde wahren! 2. "Underwear: Please always keep dignity!"
3. Der Herr achte immer auf gepflegtes Schuhwerk! 3. "Invest in a few pairs of good shoes, and keep them polished."
4. Der Herr im Hemd mit kurzem Arm ist nur erlaubt im Dienste der Polizei oder der Post! 4. "Short sleeved shirts should be restricted to the police and postal service."
5. Der Herr trägt keinen Juwelenhandel um Hals und an den Händen! 5. "The gentleman doesn't wear a lot of jewelry on his neck and hands."
6. Der Herr altert nicht nur phsyiognomisch in Würde sondern passt seinen Stil dem Alter entsprechend an. 6. "Keep your wardrobe and style in sync with your age."
7. Der Herr achte beim Kauf auf die richtige Größe, die zu seinem Körper passt! 7. "When purchasing clothes, the gentleman makes sure he chooses the proper size to fit his build."
8. Der Herr trägt Trainingsanzug nur zum Sport! 8. "The gentleman wears training suits only for sport!"
9. Die Hände sind die Visitenkarte eines jedes Herren! 9. "Well-groomed hands are a must."
10. Der Herr trägt den Strumpf bis zum Knie, damit bei zu kurzer Hose das nackte Bein nicht zu sehen ist! 10. "A gentleman should wear socks to the knee, so that one cannot see the naked leg when wearing short pants."
There you have it, the 10 Rules of Style. The pop-up store will be opened until the 30th of September on Rosa-Luxembourg Str. 3, Berlin-Mitte so make sure you drop by some time if you're in Berlin.
