10 Bad habits which cause hair loss

The sign of falling hair gives the worst nightmares to people. The moment they see hair falling people think they are going bald. Losing some amount of hair everyday is a normal pattern for everyone. However if you are losing more than normal amount the there is something wrong. Many factors like things we do eat and our habits can cause hair fall. Excessive hair fall can be a sign of anemia as well.

Here are 10 bad things that we do to lose hair

  • Hot water-We all love to stand under the shower and have a nice warm bath. However hot water dehydrates the hair follicles and also leads to dry hair. Hot water sucks out the essential oils out of the hair strands causing it to become weak and leads to hair fall.
  • Hair dryer-Using the hair dryer everyday further leads to dry hair. It absorbs the moisture from the hair and scalp. After consistent usage of blow dryer the hair loses its texture and tends to become rough.
  • Styling equipment-Using hair straightener and curlers pulls the hair and makes the hair follicles weak. It also thins down the hair, damages it by breaking hair, apart from causing hair fall.
  • Poor diet-Crash diets and bad food habits contribute to a great extent towards hair fall. Hair needs essential nutrients like vitamins and minerals to stay healthy and rooted to the scalp. Vitamin E, calcium and folic acid are required for the hair to stay thick and grow well.
  • Brushing-Brushing too hard also causes hair fall. It pulls and tugs the hair leading it to break off from the scalp. Using a rough brush or fine toothed comb will lead to hair fall.
  • Handling wet hair-Combing and typing up wet hair is also unhealthy. The water logs in the hair follicles and also blocks sunlight. Over a period of time the hair tends to become thinner.
  • Using too much shampoo-Most shampoos have chemicals that are not good for the hair in the long run. They can cause permanent damage to the texture of the hair.
  • Using gels and creams-Hair needs proper conditioning. However gels and creams are not the answer for this. Most hair gels make the hair stiff and prone to breakage.
  • Hair styling-Wearing tight hair styles and twisting and turning the hair often can cause damage. Tight hair styles block the blood supply to the hair follicles from the scalp.
  • Other factors-Many other factors like taking birth control pills, some types of medications and exposure to harsh sunlight can cause permanent damage.

Conclusion
In order to maintain healthy hair eat a good diet that consists of fruits and vegetables. Also there are several home remedies like natural conditioners and shampoos that can help to maintain the texture of the hair. These are available in our kitchen like eggs, olive oil, coconut oil and beer for example.
