Based on the popularity of Glee, movie-themed sing-alongs, standing engagements of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the fact that karaoke will not die, there’s pretty hard evidence that people love singing together. You needn’t look further than YouTube to find gobs of videos highlighting song. And shows like American Idol, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent have been riding high in the ratings for several seasons.
In my opinion, there’s no better way to showcase harmony than through a cappella. I also think it’s safe to say there are many who feel the same.
Occasionally, I catch flack for my love of a cappella. Most sing along, but some roll their eyes. I try not to roll with those guys. (Get it?!?) Ain’t nobody got time for that.
As such, I’m proud to present my top ten a cappella ensembles, as well as my favorite arrangements from each.
And because I love this genre so much, I’ve saved one of my all-time favorites – from the guys with more chutzpah than fits on a stage – just for you.
