Started a new show today, Dark Matter (Apple plus), which has Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, and Alice Braga in the cast, and has Kline of a twist ending. I will say that when the twist is revealed, the audio description becomes more necessary, and appreciated. Speaking of that audio description, Jedidiah Barton is here as narrator, so you know you’re in good hands. I could see the twist coming, and I won’t reveal it, but it is basically the whole reason to watch the first episode. I’m interested in the “how” we got to the twist, and I’m hoping later episodes explore that.

I also did watch Hacks (MAX), which I’ve been watching, but just now launched into season 3. The season premiere is so good, and really took advantage of that devastating twist at the end of last season. seems like things have worked out for both ladies, but can they really fix what is truly broken? I guess we will find out this season. The audio description is fine, as it feels right for a comedy, but as the episode was more focused than normal on aspects of fashion, I felt like I would have leaned in a bit more in that endeavor.

X-Men 97 (Disney plus) went there this week with an episode that divided me a bit. I loved some aspects of it, and where I thought other episodes had sappy writing, this one landed really well. However, they decided to make Magneto the primary villain again without defeating Bastion, which ends up still being a problem. This seems to also be going scorched earth, as we tackle the most famous Wolverine/Magneto moment from the comic books. yah, they go there.

Dead boy Detectives (Netflix) had to figure out why people kept jumping off a lighthouse in this episode, which just helps to keep solidifying this show’s chemistry well. it has that Buffy vibe, where the whole team contributes on some level, and I like that about this. I’m assuming if the show continues, it will continue to feel like that. The audio description here is really good, especially in some really tough flashback sequences for one of the “dead boys”.

The Veil (Hulu) is back again, and i still am having a really tough time nailing this series down. I get that there’s an attack that is imminent, but like… it seems to be this other guy. Am I really going to have to watch till the end to fully understand this show?

Chucky (Peacock) wrapped its third season in spectacular form. My God, if they don’t bring the show back, I don’t even know. Like, what a horrible way to end this series. I know we just totally fucked the Quantum Leap team one more time, but this Chucky ending is also screaming resolution.

Palm Royale (Apple plus) saw a birth, a potentially damaging team up, and the police! I’m not fully in love with this show, as I wish they gave Carol Burnett more to do. Allison Janney is doing some nice work, but everyone else has honestly been better in something else, if we are being really honest. Except Ricky Martin. This might be his best work.

And I caught up on the Elzabeth (Paramount Plus) episode where a tennis star dies mysteriously, and Elzabeth figures it out. I believe CBS is sticking with this one. Sadly, and I usually put cancellations at the top, but the same can’t be said for NBC’s Extended family (which I never even bothered to star), or Roku’s Chad, which have both been axed. Chad deserved better.
