The Single Malts of Scotland, Round One: Linkwood 12 YO, Cask #804447 and Ben Nevis 23 YO, Cask #1479Depending upon how you count them, there are either five or six Scotch Whisky regions...

Speyside,
Highlands & Islands (do these count as 1 or 2?),
Lowlands,
Islay, and
Campbeltown.

Since 2002, Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, founders of The Whisky Exchange, have been bottling cask strength, Single Malt Scotch Whiskies from all 5 (or 6) regions under their The Single Malts of Scotland label. A couple weeks ago, we were fortunate enough to receive four samples of this independent bottler's latest releases from their US importer, Impex Beverages. Here's what we received:

#1 - Linkwood 12 Year Old, Cask #804447. Bottled @ 55.8% ABV
#2 - Ledaig 14 Year Old, Cask #900178. Bottled @ 55.4% ABV
#3 - Glenburgie 21 Year Old, Cask #900896. Bottled @ 55.2% ABV
#4 - Ben Nevis 23 Year Old, Cask #1479. Bottled @ 52.7% ABV

There's a whole heap of 5s in those ABVs. We like that in our whisky, but for the sake of our noses and palates, we decided to break up these reviews into two videos. For this one, we decided to try the youngest and oldest bottlings of this high octane foursome, i.e. the Linkwood and the Ben Nevis. To find out what we thought of these whiskies, click the play button on the following video:
