“I Loved It”

By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Over people have signed up for our free two-week keto low-carb challenge. You'll get free guidance, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists and troubleshooting tips - everything you need to succeed on low carb.

Here are new amazing stories from the people who've taken the challenge:

The two-week challenge was amazing. OMG. I lost inches and weight. I was 166 pounds (75 kg) I am now 158 lbs (72 kg) and my waistline has decreased by four inches (10 cm). The first week I measured my waist, I said I must have measured incorrectly. But it's so true. I did before and after photos as well and I am so impressed. I am going to continue the diet.

Thank you for all the great recipes. I enjoyed the first week's meals so much I repeated a few of the recipes.

Stella

Brother, first off THANK YOU for making this mode of eating accessible to everyday joe's like myself... you have truly done the Lord's work for me. I was in a predicament where I hated my situation but could not seem to change course. Every year has been going from bad to worse recently with regard to my weight.

I've been up and down the diet ladder three times previously... always with the same outcome: good success but no ability to sustain it. With my job, kids, and life just plain crazy I simply did not see going down that path again as realistic... too many cravings, too much time in the gym, too much documentation and just too much plain misery to get to a peak that I would ultimately tumble off of sooner or later. Willpower will only buy me so much time before I'll nuke myself with cheetos or pizza or bagels or Thanksgiving or getting sick or whatever and then I'll be sunk again. I need a habit to cling to.

I'm battling obesity induced insulin/blood pressure/sleep apnea problems but most of all: Ego. I will not join a support group, I hate going to the doctor and I can't stand pre-packaged meals. I look in the mirror and hate what I see, or worse, I see how my wife looks at me... so humiliating. But not so humiliating that I'm willing to ask for help... if I can't do it on my own I won't do it.

The part of keto that I'm grooving on is the portion control aspect that including fats enables... I'm satiated so I don't binge.

For me, it has always been a domino effect: My sleep goes, then my workouts go, then my appetite goes haywire, my weight skyrockets and my energy plummets... then I'm in a tight spiral toward the ground. The part of keto that I'm grooving on is the portion control aspect that including fats enables... I'm satiated so I don't binge. And now this unforeseen aspect of being able to sleep through the night... I swear, by day three I slept through the night for the first time in years. I woke up and almost burst into tears... I felt so damn good! That has to be attributable to something and I'm really only minus wheat and sugar (heavily processed foods too, now that I think about it). In my mind, that can only be attributable to keto here at the outset of my journey.

Why will I be able to sustain this change when I couldn't before? I lost 6 lbs (3 kg) the first week and 4 lbs (2 kg) the second on keto! All with no workouts, only minor cravings and just a few 'poor me' negative thoughts. The food change is not a big deal (I've been comparing it to visiting India) the food is different but most of it is quite satisfying once you overcome your habit bias. But absolutely nothing as significant as being able to sleep... I never, ever want to visit that hell on earth again.

At the end of the day, this is a sustainability challenge. I can't sustain the caloric intake that I've been on the past few years because it's literally killing me to say nothing of making me miserable. That's not hyperbole either... what I have been eating is literally poisoning me. If I can implement CICO control effectively through the addition of fat and make it sustainable by minor modification such as the addition of carbs like leafy greens and complex sources such as brown rice later on, maybe I'm onto something.

I think it's pretty safe to say, however, that keto for me right now is spot on as I'm eating a third of what I was just a couple weeks ago and I feel terrific. I've only lost 10 lbs (5 kg) of the 80 lbs (36 kg) I intend on shedding, but it's so different... I feel that I can truly do this forever. I'll need to get some blood work done to see what this does to my cholesterol etc. in a couple months but nothing has made me feel this 'well' before, and I mean nothing.

For anyone considering this lifestyle change, I'd say I think the key is what you focus on (i.e. I'm focusing on eliminating carbs [especially wheat and sugar] evaluating my progress and adjust accordingly... but the lens that I view everything through is ELIMINATE CARBS). One needs to find a lens... a philosophy to orient oneself around and then modify from until you find what works for you. My lens now, my habit, is keto.

Finally, as a side note, I should state that I have been in phenomenal shape before. I've been strong as a bull and hard as steel. I know how to eat, I know how to exercise, but always the fats came out first and that ultimately made all of my prior attempts unsustainable. Now I see hope on the horizon and Andreas, I'm running full tilt toward a better tomorrow where I'm not an overweight slug. THANK YOU!

We loved the food looking forward to doing it again!!!

I've tried so many ways to lose weight - nutrisystem, Ideal protein, calories, etc.

I came across this while researching ketogenic eating to lose weight. I started two weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds (4 kg).

I came across this while researching ketogenic eating to lose weight. I started two weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds (4 kg). I am drinking a keto shake product - and have had no keto-flu symptoms - and little craving for carbs and sugar - two of my huge bad habits...

The recipes are great! I've liked more than half of them (I am just not much of a cabbage person, or asparagus). So far - it's a great program! I'm shooting for 70 pounds (32 kg) over 6 months.

Thanks for this! The only suggestion: my wife finds some of the recipes too spicy for her. Since I like spicy foods, I'm ok!

Thanks again,
Gary

I thought this was a very helpful, encouraging low-carb challenge. I've been on it for two weeks and haven't lost any weight at all and am still getting headaches and not feeling too energetic. But I am am hoping it is just taking my body longer to adjust and I will keep it up for a few more weeks. Many years ago, I lost quite a bit of weight on the Atkins diet, so I feel like this will eventually work for me.

I appreciate all the choices you offer and also the informative articles.

I loved the recipes, but I didn't lose weight until I restricted my protein to less than six ounces (170 g) a day.

I loved the recipes, but I didn't lose weight until I restricted my protein to less than six ounces (170 g) a day. Great food, though. So I'm down five pounds (2 kg) and becoming a member.

Judy

I am all in. This is easy and I am learning a lot about cooking and eating healthy. The support is amazing.

Mike

I loved it - thank you so much for the recipes and meal plan ideas.

I loved it - thank you so much for the recipes and meal plan ideas. That was so helpful so we're not eating the same thing all the time and getting bored.

I followed this quite closely. So this would have been week 6 and 7 of my journey forward. The meals are great and with a slight shift of what I was already doing left me feeling more than happy. Seems like after the two weeks I don't seem to want to eat as much, can go longer periods without thinking of food, when is the next meal etc.

My weight has deceased but actually don't want to weigh myself. I am satisfied with my clothes getting sloppier with room to move. I no longer feel really fat, I no longer have cravings, I never want to go back to that place I was in.

What do I think... I can move forward in the most positive way and thank you for the push.

Polly

I simply can't thank you enough for the blessing of your program.

I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life. Eating LCHF has changed everything.

I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life. Eating LCHF has changed everything. When I followed your instructions, my cravings for sugar simply faded away and the pounds are coming off. I am 60-years old and before learning about your program had started to give up on the hope to achieve a healthy weight. I now have renewed hope to become truly healthy. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to make our world healthier!!!!

Kate

Hard to follow. But is effective!

I was introduced to the concept of keto by a friend at work. She described it in general, and I thought it sounded crazy! I decided to do some research on my own and discovered this website. I was willing to try it for two weeks. It wasn't too expensive and I could eat food I liked.

As a southerner, I grew up eating lots of butter. Then the 90's rolled around and the whole world went "fat free." I did it, too. I began a twenty-year trend of weight gain and food addiction. In fact, I had gastric surgery two years ago. I lost 75 lbs (34 kg) but had an additional 40 lbs (18 kg) to go. It wasn't coming off eating just a higher-protein diet that was essentially low fat as well. I maintained due to my surgically-smaller stomach, but I did not lose.

Carbs, mainly sugar, have been a continuing problem for me. This keto diet has changed everything! I love the food (and it's okay to love it!)! Food has crazy good flavor AND IT FILLS ME UP FAST! I am trying veggies I have never eaten before because I can season them well and make them edible! Cauliflower mashed "potatoes" are the best! It is nice to not fear food. I have control of it now, and not the other way around. Thank you for the help.

I have lost 9 lbs (4 kg)! Yeah! My skin is clearing up and healthier. My digestive system is smoother.

The recipes were great and easy to prepare. My very picky husband is even doing this diet. He loves the food! He has lost 3 lbs (1 kg) in the last two weeks, and he has only halfway been eating keto. I have been full on for a little over two weeks now, and I have lost 9 lbs (4 kg)! Yeah! My skin is clearing up and healthier. My digestive system is smoother. I have been warned by several naysayers that my cholesterol will go sky high, but I already take cholesterol medication because my previous diet left me with cholesterol of 247!

Thank you for the help, Diet Doctor! I continue on keto... happily 😊

Rhonda
