By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Over people have signed up for our free two-week keto low-carb challenge. You'll get free guidance, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists and troubleshooting tips - everything you need to succeed on low carb.

Here are new amazing stories from the people who've taken the challenge:

I love the diet, I lost 4.8 pounds (2 kg) this first week. I started a week late so, I still have one week to go.

Angela

I've been travelling over the last two weeks and it's proved very difficult to keep up with the challenge. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with the progress I've made and the information that I've taken in.

Scrambled eggs for breakfast and giving up the pasta, potatoes, rice and bread has made for a very good start.

Thank you for what you're doing, I've shared your details with several people.

God bless you and the team,
Bishop Steven

Great! Lost 5.4 kg (12 lbs) in 2 weeks and will continue to eat low carb. Thank you for all the great info, especially the images of what foods are best, I definitely learn better with pictures!

Hoping to settle around 65 kg (141 lbs), if my body will let me, but I am already the lightest I have been for many years. I have struggled to get below 79 kg (174 lbs) for last 10 years (only 5'2″ - 157 cm) so very happy to be 74 kg (163 lbs) and hopefully will lose more!

Regards,
Gillian

I can't thank you enough. I've been a sugar junky well... A long time. I too have tried various diets that worked for a while only to end up worse of than I started.

I found out about the low-carb diet from a doctor who explained how it works. I began cutting out the bad stuff bit by bit and then started it for real after a few days. The thing that amazed me the most especially after I'd had a drink the night before, was that I wasn't hungry the next day.

Before I'll learned about the low-carb diet I was really concerned about my weight. I suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and at 196 lbs (89 kg), I dreaded the winter coming as my appetite sored in the winter months.

I have lost seven pounds (3 kg) in two weeks which is truly incredible. Six pound (3 kg) the first week and one the second. I was a bit disappointed only losing one pound (0.5 kg) but it's going in the right direction.

The recipes aren't really to my taste as I don't like mushrooms, or avocados. I'm making my own recipes which exclude potatoes, bread and sugar. I've never liked pasta so that's no problem for me whatsoever.

I've learned so much from the emails and videos that are sent each day. I really appreciated them.

Many, many thanks,
Kate

I'm a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed 3 years ago (at age 60) but probably had it a lot longer. I was told I was prediabetic 11 years ago. At that time I cut carbs and sugar for a while but never actually correctly. On this challenge I lost 5 lbs (2 kg), I need to lose about 10 to 15 more lbs (5-7 kg) but my morning sugars were all over the place. I definitely have the the dawn phenomenon going on here.

I stopped medication on May 10 2017. My doctor wanted me on more medication and I had an allergic reaction and that's when I decided to take myself off all medication. My blood sugar is lower with no meds than when I was on them. I took Metformin 2000 mg per day, and Invokana 300 mg per day. My doctor put me on Trulicity and I had giant hard bumpy hives.

I'm redoing the challenge with less protein as I think my portions were too large. Thank you for this information, no matter what my blood sugar comes down to I will never eat any other way ever again.

Thank you Dr. Eenfeldt for Diet Doctor, I'm committed to improving my health.

I thought the learning curve for the plan took me longer to figure out so I unsubscribed and restarted the challenge yesterday. I did not lose weight during the first two weeks but figured out I was eating was too many carbs.

I like the plan and am doing it to lose weight but also because my three siblings all have diabetes. I have a "normal" fasting blood sugar but I believe I'm on my way to developing it with symptoms of insulin resistance at this point. I have a strong family history of diabetes and want to prevent it.

I do struggle with the idea of eating so much fat but I'm going to trust the people who have lost so much and have no health issues from eating high fat. I'm a retired nurse and I know that the majority of medical professionals won't agree with you. I've watched the videos and they make a lot of sense to me plus I know that what I have been doing is not working, nor has it in my adult life.

I think one thing that might make the plan clearer to a beginner is to outline that if you are going for less than 20 grams of carbs per day you must actually weigh and measure your carbohydrate foods and read labels. And from the get go realize you may not be able to eat fruit at all in the beginning. I was a bit confused about eating the blackberry dessert recipe because it's really more carbs than I can work into my day if I'm also eating cheese (as it relates to a recipe you offer) and a higher carb count vegetable. I was discouraged until I started breaking it down by looking at labels and weigh my food.

I am not hungry between meals so I have to remind myself that I don't need to eat just because it's a meal time.

Becky

I was doing really well, steady weight loss. However I went away for the weekend and included alcohol and some crackers with cheeses and since then the weight loss has been very minimal even though I'm 100% following your recipes. I'm still continuing in the hope that it cranks up again soon.

Total weight loss 1.5 kilos (3 lbs). I'm currently 71.5 kilos (158 lbs). Perhaps my fat intake isn't high enough?

Michelle

I really enjoyed the two-week challenge, I was able to lose 6.8 lbs (3 kg) in two weeks and plan to continue with this lifestyle. Thank you very much for getting me started with the meal plans, they are great and easy to tweak to my preferences.

I thought the challenge was great and a really good way to introduce people to LCHF and keto. After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I started doing 'low-ish carbs' and instantly saw benefits with weight loss, so I was inspired to 'do it properly' and try the challenge.

The biggest eye opener through the two weeks was 'high/good fat'. I have to admit my wife and I were amazed sometimes at the butter/mayo quantities in the recipes, but it helped us to understand the benefits of fat, which I don't think we would have got to on our own because we've been pre-programmed for so long that fat is bad.

Overall (including a week of lowish carbs beforehand) I've lost about 8 kg (18 lbs) and feel great. Not too many side effects, though my wife had and still has a nasty keto rash which is annoying.

Now looking to decide how to continue, but it will definitely be following similar principles, just perhaps not the <20g level. Thanks for putting together the resource - I expect we'll be signing up for your meal planner tool soon (my wife wants to try a few recipes 'freestyle' first).Cheers Peter

My husband (50) and I (49) completed the two-week challenge successfully. He had been on a sort-of free-form low-carb diet since March and at the end of the last two weeks had lost 20 pounds (9 kg).

I have been gaining weight since I went on Tamoxifen following breast cancer three years ago - by June I was up 15 pounds (7 kg). I have never been heavy before and was not having much luck reversing the trend. I lost four pounds (2 kg) in the two weeks, which starts me on the right track (I need to get down another four to get my BMI to the right location but I would rather get back to my old weight which is eleven more pounds (5 kg), so the diet will continue!

The best part of the challenge was the recipes. I am an accomplished home cook and it was a treat to experiment with all these new combinations. My husband even liked the fish - which he usually only eats grudgingly. The meals were easy to prepare and the portions were a good size - we did not end up with tons of leftovers.

Thank you for making this available - I look forward to experimenting with more of your recipes!

Elizabeth

It worked out great for me, the best thing for me is that my blood sugar dropped down to 82 mg/dl (4.6 mmol/L) average in the afternoon which was 124 to 150 mg/dl (6.9-8.3 mmol/L) blood sugar in the morning which from 160 to 180 mg/dl (8.9-10 mmol/L) is now between 86 to 97 (4.8-5.4 mmol/L). I have also lost 8 lbs (4 kg) in the 2 week and 1 1/2 inch (4 cm) in my waist. So I will continue eating this way. Side effects were minimal for me, just a little tired

Joe

I love it. I have more energy than I thought was possible. This is the way I should be eating for the rest of my life. Definitely a lifestyle change in the making.
