While the kitchen may not be your first thought when it comes to getting ripped abs, it should be. Believe it or not, there are a number of foods that help you reduce fat and build muscle on your stomach. Whether that means opting for low-calorie foods or avoiding trans-fats, there are a number of ways to get those killer abs. Here are a few ways how flat abs are made in the kitchen.
Bulk Up on Low-Calorie Foods
When trying to get fit, people make the mistake of cutting calories too much. This means that they usually cut back on the amount of food they eat. What you should be doing is eating more food. However, that doesn’t mean you should be eating a large pizza at every meal. What this does mean is eating more fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. These are foods that will make you feel full faster. Best of all, you get to eat a lot of food, but you’ll be less likely to consume too many calories.
Eat Several Meals Throughout the Day
There are a number of reasons to eat throughout the day. One of the first reasons is that eating throughout the day, several times a day, can help prevent overeating at mealtime. For example, if you eat 6 smaller meals per day, you are less likely to overeat than if you just eat three meals per day. Try splitting your daily calorie goal into 6 portions so that you can better decide how to spend your calories.
Skip the Trans-Fats
Trans-fats are extremely bad for your health. Not only can they clog the arteries, but trans-fats increase belly fat, which is also hard on the heart. Of course, if you’re putting weight on your stomach, it may be impossible to get ripped abs. Thankfully, there are healthy fats that you can consume instead of trans-fats. For example, salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and can actually help shed weight from the stomach.
Find Healthier Ways to Curb Cravings for Sweets
We all know that sugary candies, pies and cakes can turn our stomachs into bubbly fat. Instead of turning to a candy bar when you want something sweet, opt for fruit. You may also want to try a snack that is the complete opposite, such as cheese or nuts, which contain the nutrients your body may actually be craving.
You can do a thousand situps a day, but you need to remember that flat abs need the proper diet to form. You need a healthy diet that avoids trans-fats and focusing on low-calorie foods. More importantly, you should aim to eat several times throughout the day.
