Bowmore 18 Review

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

Here at Booze Dancing Central, we've had many a Bowmore over the years, but truth be told, rarely have they been a distillery bottling. Much like our newfound love, Caol Ila, most of our experiences with Bowmore have come from independent bottlings.

On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we're trying an 18-year-old Bowmore distillery bottling that Limpd freed from the confines of his basement, or as he likes to call it, "The Under The House Collection".

Here's what Bowmore has to say about their 18-year-old expression:

Cosseted away in the finest, hand-selected oak casks and allowed to mature at its own sedate pace, this is one of the most remarkable, perfectly balanced single malt scotch whiskies of its kind. One of our rarest whiskies, bottles of Bowmore 18 Year Old may be limited, but there's no end to its enjoyment.

While we've enjoyed a Bowmore distillery bottling or two in the past, they usually lack the punch of a single cask, cask strength bottling. We went into this tasting with a bit of apprehension because of this. To find out if we were under or overwhelmed by this whisky, click the play button on the following video:
