Zero Data Cost for Browsing Facebook: UC Browser for Launched in India

New Delhi, February 10 - UCWeb, the developer behind the No.1 mobile browser in India with 41% market share as of December 2014 according to StatCounter, announced today that it has taken part in the Facebook-led initiative by launching the UC Browser for, a special version of its flagship UC Browser that gives Reliance subscribers in India free access to a group of mobile websites including Facebook and others at no data charges. This is the first time has launched in India in an aim to make Internet more accessible and more affordable to local users. 

As part of the effort, Reliance subscribers in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Kerala will now have access to more than 30 websites and services ranging from maternal health, education, news, sports, jobs, communication to local information. Giving people free access to those information could substantially increase the rate of Internet adoption as well as enable people to stay informed about and connected with the world,” says Kenny Ye, Managing Director of UCWeb India.


internetdotorg 6 states is a Facebook-led initiative with the goal of making affordable internet access available to the two thirds of the world who are not yet connected and to bring the same opportunities to everyone that the connected third of the world has today. UC Browser for is just as good as the fully featured UC Browser for Android. That means in addition to accessing and other website with zero-data costs, it has all the features of UC Browser for Android, including clean yet complete UI, Intuitive tab management, Facebook real-time notification, smart downloading, support of background downloading with auto re-connection, incognito browsing, night mode, video gesture control, custom themes, etc.
