There is a lot of talk about this years resolutions, doing things better, appreciating life more and so on. All great things to resolve to do as the new year is really starting to set in. A few weeks ago a women was telling me about a different way to look at the new year. Every year Time Magazine has a person of the year, someone who impacted the world in a positive or negative way but famous none the less?
But what about the people who directly impacted our lives, because yes the people have impacted our lives but for most of us this has not been in a direct manner.
She challenged that everyone have their own personal person of the year. There are three categories to which this person could fit into:
1. A stranger- someone anonymous to your everyday life who somehow changed your life.
2. An enemy- someone who maybe did not do something directly good to you all all, but made a impact.
3. A companion- a loved one who really shined this year.
This person may come easily to mind if there were any large milestones in your year, but if not think of any milestones big or small and who made them milestones? Who was next to during them? Your boyfriend or husband? Your best friend? The random email that gave you the boost of confidence needed? The friend who maybe betrayed you but allowed you to grow stronger as a person? Any one of these people can/may be your personal person of the year.
I found that this challenge, this food for thought really had me reflecting on my year more than ever before. It made me look at the people in my life not just the events. Because in the end events only last a short while but the people you have next to you during them are sticking around for a whole lot longer.
So now I challenge you to think who your personal person of the year is.
