I want to talk a little bit about healthcare today, and I really hope that you read my story and if you have family or friends that need this information, please share it with them. Thank you, in advance!
I remember being a kid going to the same family doctor, Dr. Johnson. I remember getting immunization at the community clinics, specifically the one off San Pedro. But as I got a little older, I remember being there were times when we had insurance and times when we didn't.
My dad owned his own small business and sometimes health insurance seemed unattainable. With 4 kids, my mom was a stay at home mother until we were all older, then I know she maintained a job with the school district, just so we could be covered. But with her parents both getting ill and passing away during that time, there were lapses when we weren't covered.
Sound familiar? It seems pretty normal in our culture, right? Something about just wanting to survive and get by, makes health insurance feel like a luxury and not something that everyone has a right to obtain.
But everyone has the right to obtain health insurance. This year, I've have partnered with EnrollSA to help share information about the enrollment and re-enrollment period.
Here are some important facts:
Enrollment Events around San Antonio: English and Spanish speaking counselors available.
If more information is needed, please check out the EnrollSA website, they are on Facebook too!
Remember, we all deserve affordable healthcare. Please check it out and share with those who need.
