New York Daily News: WNBA star Brittany Griner is reportedly ending her marriage to fellow basketball player Glory Johnson just one day after news broke that the couple were expecting their first child.

TMZ Sports reported Friday that Griner has filed to annul her 28-day union with Johnson, who a day earlier revealed she was pregnant on Instagram by posting  a picture of a bun coming out of an oven next to the caption “#WelcomeToTheJohnsonGrinerFamily.”

Earlier Friday, Johnson followed with another Instagram post, this one of Griner cradling her wife’s belly along with the message, “One day until I’m reunited with my Wife @brittneygriner…This is about to be one CRAZY SUMMER!!!

Griner sent a statement to TMZ hours later, however, claiming that “Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage” earlier this week. “I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.”

Johnson responded with a statement of her own, saying she was “blindsided” and “extremely hurt” by Griner’s actions.

TMZ released details of the court documents, in which Griner claims she was “pressured into marriage under duress by [Johnson’s] threatening statements.” She also allegedly denied having any biological ties to Johnson’s baby – a suggestion that the pregnancy wasn’t mutually planned.

There were signs of problems in the relationship before the couple tied the knot last month. Most troubling was an April 22 domestic violence incident in which both were arrested on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct. Griner pleased guilty to the latter charge and was ordered to complete 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling.

“It is never OK for an argument to turn physical. This will never happen again an I take my relationship and my responsibility as a role model seriously.” Griner said in a statement at the time.

Just weeks later, on May 8, Griner and Johnson said “I do” and shared pictures of their wedding on social media. The couple actively posted on Instagram and Twitter, showing images of themselves in a perpetual state of marital bliss.

Late yesterday afternoon, Johnson made a public plea to estranged wife Griner — hours after Griner filed to annul their marriage — and then apparently decided, screw it … and took it back.

Glory posted a popular Internet meme about true relationships and “unperfect” partners not giving up on each other. It seemed like she was extending an olive branch to Brittney — but then she deleted the post within a matter of hours.

These two need a breakup from their social media accounts as well each other.
