Yankee's Sign Masahiro Tanaka at 7 Year $155M

By Kipper @pghsportsforum
Once again yankees try and purchase a world series title. Media loves the deal. Every Japanese player loves the deal. I can't even imagine paying that much for a pitcher that hasn't thrown one pitch in MLB. Yankee's blow right past their soft cap of $180M, now that they have, expect them to go as high as they can. Normally I would be *****ing up a storm, but now, I am leaning the other way. Let these teams drive up the price and length of contracts as high as they can. Its only going to hurt them in the long run. Eventually, all of these teams with basically unlimited payroll budgets are going to drive prices and length of contracts so high, that theses teams are going to be stuck with all of these players for the entire length of the contract, because only a tiny handful of teams would be able to afford them. This means that teams like the yankees and dodgers are going to have a team full of over priced, quickly declining players. Better still if these contracted players don't produce as expected from the beginning. That sounds like a recipe for a homegrown team to win more than their share of titles.
