It seems Yahoo has taken a different step this time to compete with the leader in Search market, Google, by launching its AXIS browser currently designed for the iOS mobile products, viz the iPhone and iPad. Since the web is going more and more mobile these days, yahoo's new strategy makes sense.
AXIS is developed with a new search architecture that redefines the traditional view of search results. When you hit a query on the search box, the results are displayed as thumbnails, instead of text links. The thumbnails are the extracted pictures of websites, which can be easily scrolled and selected, and perhaps you can feel what an experience it will be to use on touchscreen phones. This in turn will also reduce a lot of time normally wasted during search. Axis also allows search bookmarking and you can also pin down your favourites sites. Apart from the mobile version, Axis also has a plugin released for the desktop/laptop browsers currently supporting the four majors Chrome, Firefox, Explorer and Safari. After installing the Axis plugin on this browsers, it appears as a small search box on the bottom left corner. Another important feature it provides is the facility to sync among multiple devices that lets you view your search history on any of those devices.
