London quintet Y keep it up with their "put in a blender" and press "rec" approach on their new single Skipper. Post-punk, ska, pop on top of a stuttering, highly effective backbeat topped of by a sax part that is part Roxy Music and part Madness.
Navigating uncharted waters in the studio must have been a lot of fun. It may sound familiar sometimes, but not quite, but for fuck's sake don't overanalyze, but enjoy as such.
Y:
Adam Brennan: vocals, guitar
Sophie Coppin: vocals, synth
\Dan GB: bass
Fells: drums
Harry Mchale: saxophone
Skipper is released via Hideous Mink Records & SO Recordings. It is on the usual digital services.
