Seems like a Microsoft employee has just accidentally confirmed the rumored “Always-On” feature of the upcoming Xbox 720 “Durango”  as he has started ranting about the feature on his Twitter account. Adam Orth, Microsoft Studios creative director got into a small chat-fight with a guy named Manveer Heir, on Twitter over this feature.

Just before he set his account to Private. Few bloggers managed to sneak in and find what he said. One of his tweet’s say “Sorry, I don’t get the drama around having an “always on” console. Every device now is “always on”. That’s the world we live in. #dealwithit” . Even though he never directly mentioned Microsoft’s next-gen console, obviously he was defending it.

According to previous rumors, “always on” internet requirement will require players to be online all the time to play a game on the console. So, basically the next-gen Xbox will be useless without an Internet connection.

After this incident, Microsoft has issued a statement apologizing for the “inappropriate” behavior of their employee.

“We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter. “

Orth’s tweets doesn’t officially confirm anything. Although, Microsoft was too concerned about it to even come out with an official statement.

Most of us can’t live without an Internet connection these days. But, requiring a connection to run a video game on a console seems to be too unfair because not everyone can always stay connected online. If this is true, Microsoft will have bigger issues, or maybe they will have to give away Xbox 720 for free.
