Ripper Book Progress, week ending 26th May 2013:

Current word count – 40,000/90,000.
Body count – 4/8.
Most overused word – ‘gin’.
Favourite line this week – ‘Some tart got her puddings cut out on Hanbury Street last night.
Title – non existant.
This week’s interesting research fact – There was snow in London in July 1888!
Incidences of The F Bomb – three.
Snogs – none.
Mention of ‘eels’ – none.
Victorian ambience level – RIDICULOUSLY HIGH.
Use of surnames from my Facebook friends list – ten so far.
Current open thesaurus.com tab – ‘gloomy‘.
Current permanently open research tab – ‘Casebook: weather conditions for the Whitechapel murders.
Overall feeling – Helpless pessimism mixed with a doubtless idiotic determination to get see this through to the bitter, bloody end.

It’s going well, in other words! If I decide to self publish then I think I’m well on course for a Christmas release because, well, what could be more festive than Victorian murder and mayhem on the streets of Whitechapel?

I’ve become so wrapped up in writing The Ripper Book that I’ve been neglecting this blog lately, which is really annoying! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH though and I have come up with a cunning plan to resolve the current parlous situation and get into posting every day again before you all forget about me, because let’s face it, there are few things sadder than an abandoned blog.

Anyway, just one of the things I have decided to do is write a regular weekly update about the progress of The Ripper Book so that a. you can all see how it’s going (if you care, which I know plenty of you do!) and b. I can keep an eye on my own progress. Or something. Anyway, consider this the first weekly update.
