Writers Spotlight: Megan Stilley (Part 2)

Posted on the 11 February 2013 by 2ndgreenrevolution @2ndgreenrev

Here is the second installment of Megan’s answers to questions the 2nd Green Revolution editorial staff asked her about sustainability. This is part of a new feature we are running to bring you information about our writers.

6)   When you go shopping….paper, plastic, or cloth? Why?

Cloth, I got into the habit since my favorite grocery store in Denver doesn’t have bag.  You can take one of their boxes they have from stocking groceries but otherwise you can buy a reusable bag or bring your own.  I always keep them in my car so I can remember to take them with me.

7)   What are your thoughts on the Keystone pipeline?

I agree pretty much with Eric’s article, that we need to stop depending and falling back on fossil fuels.  We need to start depending on renewables and until that happens, we are going to keep find new, ridiculous sources (like shale oil) of fossil fuels.

8)   Are you attending any green-related events in the near future?

Unfortunately, no.  I feel pretty out of the loop about green events lately.

9)   What is your favorite post that you’ve written for 2nd Green?

This is a hard question but probably my Environmental Guilt post, because I feel I have this dilemma on a daily basis.

10)  Name one simply eco-practice that you follow religiously and think everyone else should do, too?

Recycling, not that it is the best or most worth while eco-practice.  But it is really easy to to do, especially in Denver.  I don’t understand why you wouldn’t recycle in Denver (since it is part of the trash service).  Yet I know not everyone on my street recycles.
