Wright’s Chocolate Sponge Kit

By Tejal Hewitt @Tejal_x

At the Cake and Bake show my son won a chocolate cake kit as judge prize and we decided to give it a whirl

My son is now very into baking, so he actually did most of making the cake him self! I think he may take after his mum!

The cake actually was pretty good, soft, moist and very flavorful. It was a great child friendly recipe and instructions, me and my son had a lovely afternoon making this yummy chocolate cake.

The Kit itself came with a packet of cake mix and packet of icing mix. We only needed to add water to the cake mix and 120g butter for icing mix.

In a mixing bowl add the cake mix and water and mix on medium speed for about 5 minutes.

Pour into greased cake tins

Bake for 25 mins at 200c ( which I thought was a little high and reduce to 190c instead)

Add butter and icing packet and cream together, keep about a teaspoon of icing sugar to sprinkle over the top.

Spread over the cake base

Cover the base with a nice thick layer

Sandwich together the cakes and sprinkle on a little of the reserved icing sugar from packet.
