Would You Mind Bringing the Fruit? And Quick!

By Artborghi @artborghi

I would mind, if it weighted 50 Kg and I had to run with it for 2 km.

Fruit carrying is one of the sports played at the Polynesian Olympic games “Tuaro Maohi”.

Would you mind bringing the fruit? And quick!
Fruits are bound together to large sticks and weighted before the race.

Would you mind bringing the fruit? And quick!
Runners pick their burdens on their shoulders and start running along the water front in Papeete.

Different fruits and vegetable are used to reach the payload: orange bananas (named Fei), pineapples, tubers..

Fainting runners are not rare on hot days.

All Pacific islands play Tuaro Maohi.  This year, one of the proud Fruit race winners came straight down from Hawaii
