Worth It? Wednesday: Glass vs. Plastic Baby Bottles
Glass baby bottles are back on the market and giving parents an alternative to the standard plastic. Glass bottles were what most of our parents were given as infants but were quickly replaced by plastic once introduced. Many parents may question whether glass bottles are worth switching to or purchasing. Benefits of glass bottles are innumerable so before naming them, find their few minor drawbacks listed below.

-Glass bottles are breakable if dropped on hard surfaces or floors (yet most bottles come with a silicone wrap to prevent breaking)
-Heavier than plastic, possibly making it a little more difficult for baby's hands to hold
- More expensive than plastic
Other than the above disadvantages, one can find many advantages in using glass bottles to feed baby.

-Free of harmful chemicals (Free of BPA and any other harmful toxins that can migrate from plastic when being heated)
-Easy to clean and sterilize (Always dishwasher Safe)
-Maintains warmth of milk/formula for longer time
-Can be boiled and heated
-Environmentally friendly easily recycled!
Being that I breast and bottle-feed my daughter, I was seeking a bottle that she could transition back and forth from easily. I found Born Free glass bottles to be perfect for feeding my daughter when I was unable to nurse and love their many features. Born Free glass bottles come in a 5 and 9 oz sizes, utilize a proprietary venting system to help reduce colic, gas build-up, and spit up, and have a variety of nipples with differing flow levels for desired feeding rate. They are also naturally free of BPA and PVC.
