Workhorse Dresses: How to Style Them to Avoid Boredom
This basic work dress is by BOSS Hugo Boss is a perfect workhorse style. The dress has sleeves, it doesn’t require a jacket and the basic short sleeves make it easy to layer something over it. Navy is a versatile neutral and the dress has slight interest with the pleating. The pleating isn’t so obtrusive that it limits how the dress can be worn, yet the pleats make it interesting enough for the dress to stand on its own.

I styled the dress simply in this first look using this novelty necklace from Robert Lee Morris and a pair of navy and green colorblocked pumps from Boden. It’s simple, not boring.

I styled this dress with a green summer blazer from Veronica Beard and finished the look with almond suede slingback heels and pearl hoop earrings from Majorica.

Hobbs makes a version of my favorite Michael Kors shrug at a much cheaper price. I also like to get my favorite Michael Kors shrug at The Real Real for a fraction of the price. These little shrug cardigans are perfect for work because they add a layer of coverage without taking away from the look.
I styled this Hobbs shrug in bright pink with the navy dress and added a pair of colorful novelty pumps from Charles by Charles David and finished the outfit with soft blue earrings from Monica Vinader.

In this look, I simply added this printed scarf from Longchamp to create another outfit. I finished the outfit with tan suede pumps from Corso Como and amethyst drop earrings from Banana Republic.

In this last look, I styled the dress with a very versatile white jacket from Ted Baker and finished the outfit with a pair of navy ankle strap pumps from Louise et Cie and gold chain necklace from Stephanie Kantis.
