Work-related

By Maggiemcneill @Maggie_McNeill

Do you know if any sex workers that work in legal Nevada brothels have ever gotten disability for sex work related injury?  Especially a repetitive-use injury like carpal tunnel or TMJ?

Work-relatedWhile there are definitely use injuries related to sex work, I sincerely doubt anyone has ever successfully filed a claim for such an injury for the simple reason that brothel workers, like strippers, are not employees but rather independent contractors.  They get no benefits whatsoever; on the contrary, they pay a percentage to the house (much like beauticians pay a percentage to the salon where they work).  And though a disability-rights lawyer might have more information, I strongly suspect trying to claim federal disability based on a sex-related injury of any kind (much less a sex work-related injury) would be much more likely to result in persecution than it would be to result in any economic benefits.
