- If your competition all drove blue cars – would you?
- If your competition all wrote with a red pen – would you?
- If your competitors all used the same computer – would you?
How about if your competitors used a WordPress website – would you do the same?
Sounds silly doesn’t it? WordPress (WP) is one of the most popular website platforms in the world (12% of all websites are written on WP), so it makes perfectly good sense that most businesses would use it. It has a lot going for it – it is a free platform, there are tons of free apps for it (called extensions), and plenty of self-proclaimed WP ninjas to choose.
It is so popular and format so predictive that even a non-techie can spot a WordPress site from across a crowded coffee shop.
I’m sure your business is not like everyone else’s, or your branding like anyone else’s – so break away from your competitors, be unique.
There are better choices for small business websites than WordPress!
For instance, I use SquareSpace for my Rhode Island SEO website – and what hooked me years ago was the backend – the burned-in SEO is one of the best in the industry. Different than WordPress, you never have to worry about an extension created in a 15yo’s tree fort failing and leaving your business scrambling for a replacement – the SEO is built right into SquareSpace.
One of the website design firms in Rhode Island that I have worked with has coded their own back-end (CMS) for their custom websites burning some great SEO right onto the platform – while another creates amazing infinite scrolling parallax websites. Both are unique, affordable for small businesses, and undeniably not a WordPress template site.
Options are aplenty – here are a few more alternatives to consider instead of WordPress:
So break the mold and have a website as unique as your business.
Using the same marketing tools to battle your competition is a long-path to reaching your goals. You need to up-your-game if you want to conquer your local market.
So consider these WordPress alternatives and stop the WP insanity – dare to be different.
