Word of the Week: Booyah!

By Zen_sheila @BeZensational

Yep, that’s right… BOOYAH!
Word of the Week: Booyah!
Of course you will automatically think of that hands-up-in-the-air expression of elation… … that in-your-face expression of accomplishment… but today we’re going to explore an additional meaning:  “Booyah is a food that is prepared like a stew, but on a very large scale. It takes many cooks to prepare the food, and it is usually meant to serve hundreds or even thousands of people.”

So what the heck does this have to do with anything?  Well… even though we’re all individuals and we’re on our own journeys in life… we are not unlike the people who cook the Booyah Stew!  We all play a part in making something the best.  We all have something special to add to the mix ( a pinch of this, a pinch of that).  There are people who bring different ingredients to the stew, not unlike those who we meet in life that bring something different or special to our lives.  There are strong people who stir and stir and stir the stew… just as there are strong people in our lives.  We also learn which ingredients work and which ones don’t.  How mistakes can be opportunities to learn.  When the stew is served it is shared with hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people.  Just like each of us leaves our imprint on another!

I loved this meaning so much that I titled my second book around the word.  “Booyah! Spirit” is 240 pages of soul nourishing fun! Inside you will enjoy a mix of everything from ancient knowledge to simply explained scientific experiments about the soul, a few life’s lessons, and a lot of easy to understand how-to’s.  Sprinkled with a few pinches of humor and a big heaping measure of love.  Just like the preparers of Booyah Stew nourish many people… “Booyah! Spirit” will nourish souls of many!

From the minute we’re born, we become someone’s someone: we’re someones child, someones sibling, someones employee, someones spouse, etc.  The book itself covers a bunch of different methods to get yourself back.  Back from feeling like you are someone’s someone and understanding that is not how you are actually defined.  You are you first and foremost, because if you are not strong, healthy, and happy… it’s difficult to be something for someone else. When you are on a journey of self-discovery and start to uncover your true self little by little, you will experience something wonderful!  You will find inner strength to nurture bonds, or break them; you will discover how to be someone’s someone without compromising who you truly are; you will find that relationships become healthier.

Today I’ll touch briefly upon one ingredient in our Booyah Spirit… Observing.  It is so important to learn how to observe.  We all create dramas in our mind based on memories, feelings and experiences of the past that are filed away in there.  To observe we must wait and view things as they are happening without passing judgment or calling upon those memories in our minds to interpret our observation.

Observe:  just wait and watch.  Take a breath.  Pay attention and resist the urge to act impulsively.  If your first instinct is to yell, just pause and wait.  Think calmly, let the situation pass and move on.  Chances are it wasn’t really worth getting upset about.  Such a seemingly small step, yet such a big part of any journey!

Later this week we’ll touch upon a couple more ingredients, some come on back!  You can also read part of Booyah! Spirit for free at Smashwords.com or take a look inside the book at Amazon.
