What exactly is going on here? It seems that the book is so fascinating that she's stopped what she was doing because she's got to go on reading -- but was she getting dressed, or getting undressed, or what? The painting is by the Hungarian artist Miklos Mihalovits (1888-1960), who seems to have specialised almost exclusively in pictures of naked ladies (try putting his name into Google Images if you are so inclined).
