Actually 'Preparing for the Matinee' (1907), by the American painter Edmund Charles Tarbell (1862–1938). Funny to think of putting on such a large hat to go to the theater -- it's a wonder anyone could see the stage if every lady in the audience was wearing one. Lovely painting, though.
