Folks over at iFixit have managed to get their hands on one of the Valve’s Steam Machines. As always, they have dived right inside the machine to tear it apart, one piece at a time. To their surprise, they have found the Steam Machine to contain ordinary computer parts that you can find at a local computer retailer. However, these parts are more powerful than any other next-generation console that has been unveiled so far.

As you may know, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PS4 both shared almost exactly the same specs on each of those gaming consoles including 8-core processors, 8GB of RAM and 500GB HDD. But the specs on this Steam Machine includes 3GB NVIDIA GTX 780 graphics, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1TB Seagate solid state hybrid hard drive and an Intel Core i5-4570 CPU clocked at 3.6GHz.

It’s obvious that anybody could build a next-gen console like this on their own. And it’s possible that you may even already have a PC with specs even more powerful than the Steam Machine. But the irony is how these simple parts can easily overtake the overly hyped next-gen consoles that were sold in millions. The only downside is the price, iFixit says that putting together a Steam Machine will cost about $1,300. Which is actually almost triple the price of a brand new PS4. Hopefully, Valve will figure out a way to launch these new machines under a fair price, or it will be market suicide for the company.
