Envious of those with actual fireplaces, I admit I have succumbed to switching on the public cable channel to the good ol’ Yule Log. The Yule Log, for those lucky fireplace owners, is a looped video of a fireplace with Christmas music playing. On really low points, this person I know (who I won’t name) has been known to mute it, sit on the couch with a hot toddy and knit to records — because desperation can be a real thing sometimes.
