SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Wildfire Mitigation Intern sought for work with the City of Boise Wildfire Mitigation Team (Fire, Parks, Planning & Public Works). The internship will run June 1st – August 31st, 2017. There is the possibility of a May 1st start date if the student is available, or conversely the internship may run over one month until September 30th if the student is available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The intern will be assigned to work directly with the City of Boise Wildfire Mitigation Team (WMT) and will engage in office work and field work activities. A workspace with computer access and email will be provided.
Duties may include assisting with the completion of the City of Boise Wildfire Mitigation Strategic Plan, oversight for multiple wildfire mitigation projects, project synopsis writing, reviewing bids, information gathering and research, volunteer coordination, working with neighborhood associations and homeowners’ associations, reseeding of native grasses and forbs, presenting project information to partner organizations/agencies, installing interpretive signs, creating GIS shapefiles,
REQUIREMENTS:
Current Graduate Student (degree-seeking) or recent graduate with a Master’s Degree, with excellent oral and written communication skills, and GIS skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Students in degree programs related to geosciences, land use planning, fire and/or public policy preferred.
The intern will be required to prioritize workloads and schedule the necessary time needed to complete each item by the identified deadline. The intern will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week. The internship schedule is flexible and could include a 5 day workweek with 8 hour workdays, or a 4 day workweek with 10 hour workdays.
