Why You Need a Long Gold Necklace in Your Wardrobe

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

Long Gold Necklace Contrary to popular belief, accessorizing is meant to add ease to getting dressed, not difficulty.  Sadly, most women feel the opposite.  In today’s post in this series on how to accessorize, I am going to show you that, if you have the right staple accessory pieces in your wardrobe, adding flair to multiple outfits can be easy, not challenging.

I want to talk about the importance of having a long gold necklace in your wardrobe (or silver, if you prefer) using this one from Banana Republic.  As you will see through today’s post, a long gold necklace can be added to any outfit you are wearing and can add finish in a snap.  When all else fails, you can grab this piece and, in the .00009 seconds it takes to put it on, be done and on your way.

Five outfits using the same long gold necklace

Outfit #1- To dress up jeans and a white t-shirt

You really can’t get any more basic than a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.  While the look is simple, how boring does this look get if you don’t have anything to add some spice to it?  Here, I simply added the long gold necklace to the outfit and finished it off with gold flats from Zara, a gold tote bag from Big Buddha and stud earrings from Bauble Bar.  For a jacket, this Mango piece is casual while still elevated enough to match the pulled-together look of this outfit.  Amazing how, with just a few accessories, an outfit that you could wear to help a friend move can now look dressed up.  It’s all in the accessories, my friend.

Outfit #2- To change up a black dress

To make a little black dress, like this one from Coldwater Creek, that you’ve worn the same way over and over again, more interesting, throwing on a gold necklace can add something extra without any real effort.  In addition, it can enhance without detracting.  In this outfit, I added colorful Isaac Mizrahi shoes and a blue handbag from Aldo, and the necklace blends into the look while allowing you to stand out.Outfit #3- To spruce up a white button down shirt

A white button-down shirt, like this one from J. Crew, can be one of those easy shirts to wear to work.  While you can fill in the neck area with a bib necklace, this long gold necklace can also be used for a soft finish.  The whole outfit has a feminine professional look with a two-tone Boden skirt, a pair of turquoise flats, a gold bracelet and a white Zara handbag.

Outfit #4- With a summer maxi dress

A summer maxi dress, like this one from Modcloth, has summer fun written all over it, and adding this long gold necklace is as easy to add as the dress is to wear.  For casual, this maxi is styled with natural sandals, and a gold Aldo bag.  For added warmth and arm coverage, I styled this outfit with a soft pink cardigan from Mango.Outfit #5- With a suit

If the suit, layered with a tank, look has you bored to tears, accessorizing is the easy answer to this conundrum.  This basic grey Reiss suit and teal cap sleeved top gets a, rushing-out-the-door, pop with this long gold necklace.  To finish the outfit, I added a pair of grey, moderately heeled, Circa Joan & David pumps, Bauble Bar stud earrings in teal and a bright yellow handbag from Coach.  The outfit still says corporate but won’t bore you to tears like the last quarterly meeting at your office did.

Now go buy a long gold necklace and work your magic.
