Every once in a while it’s good to enter the archives and revisit “old” ideas. Perhaps the most important “post” every written for 2nd Green Revolution was never actually a post on the site. The following comes from our About page. This is the story of why we bothered starting 2nd Green Revolution. Although the pace of posts has slowed over the past year an a half, we are more committed than ever to the sustainable — regenerative — economy. Why else would I have gone back to school for another degree? Here’s to the burgeoning 2nd Green Revolution, ushering it in, and we we began this journey.

2nd Green Revolution, LLC is the product of a series of ideas and discussions over the last year. We share the belief that there needs to be a fundamental shift in how we interact with energy. As the world becomes hotter, flatter, and more crowded, the old way of doing business won’t work. Fortunately, there is ample opportunity to create and implement change. The current economic turmoil and financial collapse are exactly the types of global crises that give rise to the kind of bold, far-sighted, and innovative thinking that is necessary to break the status quo. Governments, citizens, and businesses must then act together to make the transition to a sustainable energy future.
We got tired of just talking about what we thought America should do in order to lead on these issues and decided to try to put our ideas into practice. Why not create a public forum to gather information, analyze ideas, and discuss the coming revolution while participating in it in some small way? Why not create a destination for insight, news, varied perspectives, and honest discussion?
Some of the inspiration for the site came from TechCrunch, a company dedicated to obsessively covering Internet start-ups, Silicon Valley, and the social web. We wanted to create a similar website focused on green and clean technology and all the issues related to making the fundamental shift toward a new energy paradigm.
Though there are myriad sites writing about the environment, green technologies, policy, and business, we wanted to try our own approach. We wanted to help business and environmental interests align, promote products and ideas that may make a difference, and contemplate the foundation of policy upon which change will be built.
Our field is huge and the competition is stiff. We take this as a good sign. Competition can only make the movement stronger by increasing innovation and broadening interest and involvement, thereby leading us down the path to a more economically and environmentally sustainable future.
We hope you’ll join us.
