Why I Love Weddings

By Jessicavenoy @lovelyjesscuh
I feel like everyone loves weddings, right? This past weekend Adam and I were both members of a bridal party and it was just so much fun! I loved standing up next to our sweet friends while they tied the knot.
I was writing in my journal on Monday morning, just reflecting on the weekend, and I figured it would be fun to do a quick blog post about why I love weddings (fun fact: in high school I was DEAD set on being a wedding planner but after interning as one, I couldn't get down with the crazy brides/work hours).
Why I Love Weddingsone. It's an excuse to dress up with my husband.
We got to get especially dressed up since we were in the bridal party and it was a nice change of pace to see one another looking top notch! We're used to being in workout clothes and jeans because of our jobs - dressing up for us is a rarity, haha!
two. It reminds me how powerful love is.
My favorite part of any wedding is watching the groom's face as his bride glides down the aisle toward him. This wedding was no different - the groom was a ball of emotion watching is soon to be wife walk toward him and the passion portrayed in his eyes while reading his vows was so moving. Seeing that kind of powerful love reminds you to not take your own loved ones for granted.
three. Weddings bring people together.
In the weeks leading up to the wedding, the bridal party and families of the bride and groom all banded together to make sure everything came together. Most of us were strangers to each other, but the wedding bonded us in a way that made us feel like a team who was willing to do whatever it took to make the day special.
four. You get to see a lot of your friends in one place at one time.
The older I get, the harder it is to spend time with big groups of friends. We're all occupied with family events, school, jobs, kids, etc. Big events, like weddings, are a great opportunity to see a lot of good friends at once and it always leads to a fabulous time!
five. ALL of the delicious food, drinks, and dancing!
Eat, drink, and be married was the theme of Saturday night and I didn't hate it one bit. We devoured a BBQ buffet, sipped on spiked sweet tea, and danced the night away in a barn - it was such a blast! I just love how emotional everyone is at a wedding ceremony and then as soon as the reception hits, a switch is flipped and everyone is ready to party!
What is your favorite thing about weddings? Adam and I have another wedding to attend in May and I'm pumped!
xo, Jess
