Why a Mum Pissed Me off Big Time at the Swimming Pool

By Therealsupermum @TheRealSupermum

I was waiting on Kia finishing her swimming lesson so stood watching her splashing away, she loves swimming so when the nursery she attends offered a term of lessons at a low fee we booked her in.

There were a group of four other mums sat on a table drinking coffee, chatting away. Not the type of mums I would feel comfortable sitting with, the posh voices could be heard echoed down the corridor. They wore tweed jackets and some even hats, I mean come on its sports center not a fashion catwalk.

There was a little boy much the same age of Kia maybe three and a half at the most screaming for his mommy. He was having a swimming lesson too, with three other children. His mom was one sat on the snobby table. How she managed to totally ignore his heart pleading plees I will never know.

My heart was breaking for him, I wanted to open the door and go and scoop him out that water and wrap him in a warm fluffy towel. As he stood shivering at the edge of the pool, a look of utter fear on his face all his mom could say was “ Stop being a stupid boy, its water”.

I felt like grabbing her and marching her to the deep end of the pool and chucking her in. How could she sit there laughing and drinking coffee knowing her child was on the other side of the glass petrified and wanting his mommy to save him.

Its his 2nd weeks of lessons” I heard her telling another of the mums. “He hates swimming” she told them.

So why the hell have you brought him back then I wanted to shout at her. Knowing your child is afraid of this activity why book him for six weeks of lessons, is it really that important your three year old has  swimming lessons?

I was pleased when Kia came skipping out and we could leave, but not before throwing a look of sheer disapproval in the direction of the mother in question.
