Where You Are You

By Theyouandmecollective @youmecollective

Look around. What do you see? How do the things you see make you feel? If what you see doesn’t make you feel any of the following, it may be time to re-evaluate your decor:

  • Happy
  • Inspired
  • Serene
  • Warm
  • Energized
  • Comforted
  • Nostalgic

Too often we settle for generic decor and art to fill our homes, rather than slowly building our decor through thoughtful purchases such as memories from our travels, original art that speaks to us, and well-made pieces that are built to last. No one can deny the ingenious craftsmanship and quality materials that went into the items that filled our forefather’s houses. A hundred years later, these items are not only holding up, but will last through our own lifetime and beyond. So, why do we now settle for particle board and mass-produced artwork that is anything but imaginative?

Like fashion, the quest for ethically-made home decor is a quest for quality, personal-expression, and inspiration. It is also a journey toward attaining a true sense of home. Home is where you can truly be yourself, let loose, relax, laugh, cry, eat raw cookie dough, and sing into your hairbrush. It’s where you are you. Does your decor reflect you?
