Where to Find Perth’s Best Coffee for Every Occasion

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

Here's my list of Perth's best coffee spots for all occasions; whether you are with the kids, at work needing a caffeine hit or with someone who doesn't drink coffee. I will continue to add to this list so check back and I'd love to add your suggestions too - email me a paragraph about your favourite coffee.

Where to go for Perth's best coffee with kids?

Blacksmith in Highgate - There are change table facilities in the bathroom, coffee is great, the babycinos are $2 each and the money goes to PMH. Plus there's plenty of space for manoeuvring a pram or stroller. There are several long tables available, perfect for large group catch-ups and if you phone up, they allow reservations. A large sandpit is housed to the left and to the right is a cubby house type room where there's kitchen equipment, chalkboard and toys. The kids can literally wander amongst the tables and no one bats an eyelid because honestly, you'd only venture out there with a rug rat in tow.

Hobart Deli found in North Perth was a random but great discovery! It has a gated park across the road with a playground for those baby play dates. It also brews a quality latte and the lemon meringue is AMAZING.

Lincoln 102 - Absolutely love this cafe which was originally a home. Tucked away in the middle of a residential street, you wouldn't even know it's there if it wasn't for all the raving word of mouth. They have awesome food and great coffee at a really decent price. Plus the service is quick and friendly. There's highchairs available and it's not too cramped for those of you with kids who like their personal space and don't enjoy crowds like my junior burger.

Whistler's Chocolate Factory in Middle Swan - the coffee and scones are good. There's plenty of grass for kids to play, high chairs and a baby change room.

Yahava Koffeeworks offers breathtaking views, plenty of grass and high chairs that are readily available when you visit it in the Swan Valley. It also has drive-through coffee, awesome for mums and dads with kids in the car!

Funky cool coffee spots to go to without kids / for takeaway

Standby Espresso sits on the corner of Walcott and Raglan Street and serves up Toby Estate Coffee. At $3.50 for a small and $4.50 for a large, it is what you would expect to pay for any coffee in Mount Lawley. There's some seating out the front and at the counter if you want to have a quick seat but it's mainly a great option if you want a grab and go kinda coffee spot. They also stock The Holy Bagel Co's bagels which I love covered in cream cheese. The pumpkin bread is yummy too.

The Engine Room on Fitzgerald Street in North Perth, is run by three firemen who love a good coffee. If you want a good caffeine fix then this is the place for you. The service is friendly, coffee is quality and the chalkboard walls will keep you entertained. Oh and there's free wifi too.

BossMan is one of my favourite places for real coffee. Open from 7am, I am able to get my coffee fix before heading to work. The guys are friendly and the hipster space instantly makes me feel relaxed.

Creative work spaces

Stomping Ground Coffee inside The Laneway Collective in North Perth - sometimes I just need to get out of the house with my laptop to get my creative juices going. A hit of retail therapy, coffee and free wi-fi will do it! These guys recently took over the cafe and we absolutely love the new rustic presentation of their coffees/hot drinks.

When you need a good caffeine hit

is tucked away in the Piccadilly Arcade and where all the hardcore coffee drinkers must go. They have a variety of coffee brews available (prices for a small start at around $3.80). If you have an appreciation for quality coffee beans and brewing methods, Standing Room Only is well worth the visit.

For something smooth and if you work or happen to be in the Perth city on a weekday

Cafe Vinyl is one of my top coffee places. Located on Hay Street, the coffee joint has their own custom coffee blend which I love and the service is always friendly. They charge $4 for their medium and $5 for their large - and quality and quantity are definitely not overlooked.

Velvet Espresso is the place where I go when looking for a coffee but not desperate for the caffeine. Their lattes are always smooth with no hint of bitterness.

Health Freak Café located on Beaufort Street is the perfect place if you are wanting fresh juices ($10), cocowhip ($7), and delicious and nutritious meals. While its prices are higher, the produce used makes it worth the cost. Although I must admit I'd rather a fatty, sugary yoghurt from Ugolicious that is next door to tutti frutti down the road. There is a small kids corner here if you happen to have your little ones with you.

Veggie Mama offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere when you walk into the café. Veggie Mama caters to the health conscious. There's dairy, egg or gluten-free food options (starting at $2.95 a piece) as well as some great fresh juices.
