Where is My Hope?

By Mischieviousmum

You are my refuge and my shield, I have put my hope in your word.
                                                                           Psalm 119:114

Right at this minute – This is my verse.   I say this because I had what I like to call a catastrophic day.  I don’t often have catastrophic days, but today was for me a very upsetting day.   We all have them from time to time, but as I was scrolling through instagram, feeling rather blue and blah about my closest friend deciding to throw away our friendship, this verse literally grabbed my attention.

Right now, I don’t know if the friendship in question will ever be okay again, but my refuge and shield is in Jesus.   In His word He has said, He will never forsake us.   In His word He promises to be our Comforter.    Right now I need a comforter….and while I feel sad about a lost friendship, I know that Jesus is my refuge and shield.   He will help me get through this time.    Losing a close friend is hard and will take time to get used to her absence from my life, but my eyes need to be on Jesus.   For it is He who will comfort and look after me.

To despair means ‘the absence of hope’.    When we put our hope in God’s truth, it is impossible to despair.   Right now, I choose to continually put my hope in God.   I pray for my friend, and let her go.
