When Political Correctness Backfires…

By Eowyn @DrEowyn

You’ve heard of the Department of Homeland Security’s “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign? From their website:

Informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our nation safe. “If You See Something, Say Something™” engages the public in protecting our homeland through awareness–building, partnerships, and other outreach. So if you see something you know shouldn’t be there—or someone’s behavior that doesn’t seem quite right—say something. Because only you know what’s supposed to be in your everyday.

How’d that work out in San Bernardino?

see something say somthing

CBS reports that police officers were searching the home of Syed Farook’s sister and mother in Redlands. They were taking precautions due to a belief that the home could be rigged with explosives.

Neighbors in Redlands were shocked that the suspects had ties to their area. “I was in awe that it was happening four houses down from my property,” one neighbor said.

A man who has been working in the area said he noticed a half-dozen Middle Eastern men in the area in recent weeks, but decided not to report anything since he did not wish to racially profile those people. “We sat around lunch thinking, ‘What were they doing around the neighborhood?’” he said.  “We’d see them leave where they’re raiding the apartment.”

Political correctness kills.
